From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master the talented storyteller has kept viewers on edge with extensive world-building, a colorful mix of characters, and a exciting storyline including angels, demons, and malevolent powers growing in strength within Dol-Makjar.
Heads-up: Key plot points for Episode 3 of this adventure lie ahead.
The Combat-Oriented Party Revealed
The third episode ended with a dramatic pause and introduced the premier party of adventurers who will split off from the main group to begin their separate journey, apart from the remaining groups.
This warrior group includes Teor (played by Travis), the agile character (Laura), Tyranny (Whitney), the cleric (the player), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie Daymond).
Why Split the Party?
With a large ensemble, it was evident from the outset that keeping everyone at one table would be impossible.
Hence, the opening chapters of Campaign 4 serve as an Introduction, intertwining the individual narratives before splitting into three separate parties: Fighters, Strategists, and Questers.
The Nature of the Combat Party
As described by the DM, the warrior group is for adventurers who enjoy a typically action-packed battle-oriented narrative style where peaceful solutions are scarce.
Upon first impression, characters like the hesitant healer the cleric might look out of place, but the actions of episode 3 make it clear why these particular heroes are perfectly fit for the Soldiers table.
Why They Must Go
To begin with, the group knows exactly where to proceed after a brutal first encounter with the enemy group.
Casimir of Thjazi—whose passing kicked off the narrative’s action—exploited the enemy for his personal gain, entering Thjazi’s hideout, attacking the character, and swiping all the enchanted items to sell off.
The traitor then cleared his debts and ran away to a secure base in the northern region, north of the urban center, with Teor’s brother pursuing him.
Character Drivers
Moreover, each member has a specific drive to exit the metropolitan area:
- Thimble, as the companion and best friend, wants vengeance.
- The adventurer knows the region and advises that it is a hostile environment.
- The warrior and Wicander, having defied his house’s orders to kill the fighter and instead saved him, have no other options.
- But, their position as prominent individuals in House Halovar could enable the party reach areas they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Additionally, The fighter vowed a eternal obligation to The savior for his salvation and will now go with him wherever.
Pursued by Authorities
Lastly, all of them are sought by the powers that control the city for a multiple motives, making remaining behind too risky:
- The agile adventurer and The hero are recognized lawbreakers.
- Tyranny and The cleric turned against House Halovar and the horde of evil beings they are aligned with.
- The target is wanted dead by the family.
This means them no alternative but to head to the northern region in search of the antagonist.
